This dish is a standing family favorite and I have passed the recipe on here and there, always hearing later that it has become a favorite in that home too. So I thought why not blog it for everyone?
Now this is a slightly sweet dish but with one ingredient adjustment you can change that.
What you need:
2 packs of smoked beef sausage
fresh cilantro
1 bag of mozz cheese
1 carton(small) of mushroom(optional)
Italian dressing of your choice(we use Kraft) about a 1/4 cup
tomato paste(smallest can available)
1 box of penne noodles
1 bottles of Kens Fat Free Sun dried Tomato Dressing(this is where the sweet is – for a less sweet taste I suggest Kraft)
Slice up your sausage and cook on medium heat.
In a bowl(this will be your serving dish so make it a large bowl!) whisk together your whole bottle of Sun Dried Tomato dressing, just about the whole can of tomato paste(I usually use all but one spoonful in the can) and your Italian dressing. You can put more Italian dressing in than posted – just taste it after whisking and add more if you please 🙂 Set bowl aside.
Cut up your cilantro to your desired size and set in a small dish. We also place our cheese in a dish but that’s up to you.
Slice your mushrooms and cook in a little butter or olive oil. Place them into your bowl.
Cook up entire box of pasta. Drain your sausage and place into your bowl. Drain pasta and add to bowl.
Mix up and serve. Top your plates with mozz and cilantro.
I am also going to give up a coveted recipe in my house. One day I was just messing around trying to bring some life to these rolls I bought and what ended up happening was this completely addictive recipe for dinner rolls. They are so simple and so delicious and by no means healthy. I have had people take home containers of these rolls after eating at my house. They go with just about anything.
You will need some split top rolls(this is important regular dinner rolls wont soak up the butter as well)
1 stick of butter – yes I’m serious
Kosher Salt
Line your rolls on a foil lined baking sheet. Preheat oven to 350. Melt your butter in a microwave safe dish. Using a brush, brush butter onto the split of the split tops. Then brush the entire pan of rolls on the tops.
Place rolls in oven until slightly crispy on top. Take them out and brush them with butter again – dont be shy with the butter…then sprinkle them with the kosher salt. Put them back in the over for about 3 mins. Then pull them out and lightly brush them again. Let them sit on the pan for a few mins then serve them up!
Enjoy!
